A half hour later, Lara opened her eyes, and then seconds later lifted her head. Julia opened her eyes too.
Both Julia and Lara sat up. Julia's head felt dizzy, and she put her hands to her face, and then yawned.
Julia laid down again, turning on her side towards Lara.
"That was a nice little nap!" She said.
Lara stretched her arms up and then yawned again. Meanwhile Julia reached out and touched Lara's knee. Lara smiled and laid down on her back next to Julia. Julia scooted herself closer to Lara and this time rested her head on Lara's shoulder.
Lara began stroking Julia's back, brushing her fingers along her side, then up and over her hip. Julia took in a deep breath and then sounded an "Mmm" and giggled.
"I think I could sleep here all day long." She said.
Lara used her other hand to brush Julia's hair.
"Maybe you can skip college for awhile and stay with me?" Lara said with humor.
Julia didn't answer. But she caught something moving off in the distance, and raised her head for a better look.
"Hey!" Look over there!"
The two girls sat up and looked.
"It's a deer." Lara noted.
A doe had appeared from the oak trees from the other side of the stream. It stopped when the two girls sat up to look.
"Oh how pretty!" Julia remarked.
It walked forward towards the stream bank to look at the girls, and then put its head down to smell the grasses and flowers. It lifted its head and smelled the air, then turned back towards the oak trees and disappeared.
"You see!" Julia tapped Lara air. "That's kinda like you."
"A deer?" Lara asked, as she stood up, brushing the grasses and debris from her butt.
"Well, it represents you I think." Julia answered, standing up also. "All naked, and living in the woods."
"I'm not saying I have to live in the woods." Lara explained. "I'm just trying to get by without creating trouble."
"Well, that was kinda weird how that deer walked up and looked at you."
"I think we ought to walk to your to your car." Lara said.
"OK." Julia answered, feeling more secure about walking nude up the road.
They walked on to the bridge and crossed the stream, continuing up the dirt road. Julia reached for Lara's hand.
"Hey!" she spoke, clutching it and weaving her fingers into Lara's.
Lara glanced at Julia and gave her a smile.
